About Me...
Summer 2022
Welcome Parents and Students to 1st grade! My name is Jamie Vollmert and I am very happy to be your child’s teacher this year at Wiley Elementary. I am began my career in education in 2003 and feel very fortunate to teach in the Wiley community going on my seventh year. I have worked as a part of the Jack Harvey staff for nine years and my first four years were at Flickinger Elementary, both in the Utica Community School district. I have taught kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 6th grades.
I grew up in Harrison Township, Michigan and went to Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona for my Bachelor's degree. I majored in Elementary Education with a Minor in Business focus in Marketing. When it was time to get my Master's degree, I went back to Oakland University and completed a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a Focus in Reading and Language Arts. I have also completed my +15 above my Master's degree from Marygrove College.
My family is very important to me! My husband, Ryan, (engineer), and daughters, Rori (15 years old) and Riley (11 years old), are the light of my life. We have two kitties that we in adopted in June of 2021. They are siblings named Rachel and Rocky. I have two younger brothers, a brother- in-law, two sister-in-laws, two nieces and a nephew that are all very important to me.
I grew up as a figure skater, which enabled me to compete in a variety of places in the United States and Canada. The love of the ice continued for me in college as I played for the Arizona State Women's Ice Hockey Team for two years. I don't get on the ice as much these days, but still love watching both sports. I enjoy walks outdoors, traveling new places, golfing with my husband, and watching my girls do the things that they love. Karate, tennis, skiing and swimming to name a few. I love losing myself in a good book and more than anything hope to see that all my students find a love for reading.
